BIO


Born in Tucson, Arizona. Judith Cottrell traveled growing up with a military family and landed in Texas back in 1991. Eventually, she earned a BFA from the University of Houston and an MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her education has supported a career as a practicing artist and higher education teaching. She also has an extensive background in the veterinary field with nursing, leadership and management roles.

Cottrell has shown her work over the past 10 years at various venues including NYCAMS Gallery New York, NY; Soil Art Gallery, Seattle, WA; Lawndale Art Center, Houston; the McNay Art Museum, David Shelton Gallery, Cactus Bra Space and Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, San Antonio, TX. Recently, she exhibited at ARTPACE, San Antonio as part of the WindowWorks series, and participated in a group drawing show titled, Texas Draws II at Russell Hills Rogers gallery. Cottrell has had numerous reviews of her work including ART LIES magazine (2008 and 2009) and a cover review in Voices of Art magazine on her installation/performance titled Pink Lemonade at i2i gallery, San Antonio, 2006.
